Happy New Year 2017! How to mentally prepare yourself to get and stay healthy

Spread the love

New Year’s 2017

Happy New Year!

Maybe because I’m getting older (notice I said “older” no “old!”) but Life seems to pass by more quickly each year. Each year we become so busy with the mechanics of life that we forget how to live. Each year we sit down and try to make goals, plans, “resolutions,” that not only improves our health but our lives as well.

We know deep down that if we do not take care of ourselves, we will not be able to take care of our obligations, much less actually enjoy our lives.

Resolutions Don’t Work!

“I could have told you that,” I hear you say. We all want to eat better, lose weight, and become more fit, which lasts, oh, 2 days!

The main reason they don’t work is that you don’t have a powerful enough reason. Here’s the key question that you need to ask:

What Matters to Me? Why is that Important?

Here are some of the answers I’ve heard:

  • I need to be able to take care of my family
  • I need to be able to keep my job
  • I have sports that I want to be able to do
  • I have a health crisis that I need to address before it’s too late
  • I want to feel good about myself
  • I don’t want to end up incapable of taking care of myself

And here are the next two important questions!

What Happens if I Don’t Get Healthy?

What Happens When I DO Get Healthy? How is My Life Better?

Now that we’ve decided what’s important, how do get physically AND mentally healthy in a safe, effective, time efficient manner?

I actively seek out ideas on exercise, nutrition, stress management, etc. on a constant basis so I can make available to you the latest and best research.

For now, I will address two issues.

Chiropractic is still the most time efficient natural healing art and the only one that treats the cause (pinched nerves/interference to the nervous system which runs the body) and not just the symptom (pain).

Exercise and strength: I will be introducing soon my booklet on Isometric exercises which are a safe, time efficient, effective way to gain and maintain strength that can be done anywhere right from your chair.

I am filled with excitement, hope, and optimism for the coming year and will be happy to share what I’ve learned to accomplish that.

I always finish my New Year’s emails with the following:

It is my fervent wish that we are periodically inspired to hope instead of despair, to lofty dreams instead of complacency, to love instead of fear, to compassion instead of anger, to health instead of sickness, to laughter instead of tears, to self-fulfillment physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually, for it is only after we take care of ourselves that we can truly take care of and give to others, our greatest gift.

Please know that it is a privilege to be your chiropractor and that I appreciate the responsibility and the friendship you have given me.

Claude
