Sleep is back in fashion!

 

Years ago, people used to brag about how little sleep they got, and today, there is overwhelming evidence that 7-8 hours of sleep is CRITICAL to ones health, physically AND mentally.

 

The quality of your sleep is also critical.

 

Mattress – if you wake up stiff and achy, it may be your mattress, especially if it is over 10 years old. I know that they are expensive but, overall, not as expensive as poor health and job performance and your relationships.

 

Bed time routines – establish a bed time routine to transition body and mind for sleep. The blue light from tv and devices have been shown to interfere with normal sleep cycles. For those with neck or back issues, a quick 10 minute ice session can do wonders.

 

Sleep position – though it is nearly impossible to control your sleep position, side sleeping is generally the best.

 

Pillows – the height of the pillow should be the same as the distance between your shoulder and your head so that, on your side, your head is in a straight line with the rest of your body.
