As expected, Thanksgiving looks to bring a new wave of COVID cases and there is much concern over the upcoming holiday season. Those who chose to limit their exposure to friends and family, a very difficult choice indeed, will ultimately reap the benefits of that choice, per Dr. Anthony Fauci.

We will need to be ever more vigilant of our health by choosing the sometimes difficult, the sometimes “I don’t feel like it,” the sometimes “I just don’t want to,” things like making better food choices, getting a bit of exercise, sleeping more, and yes, Chiropractic, for not only stress induced headaches, neck pain, back pain, etc. but the very real connection between Chiropractic and our immune systems.

As far as our mental/emotional state that, perhaps more than the others, needs to be managed, I offer you a perspective:

“This Sucks”

This phrase comes from Jay Michaelson, meditation teacher from the app “10% Happier.”

As he says in his podcast, the world is “hard, terrifying, annoying, confusing, maddening.”

He has four reasons to help you through.

One: “give yourself a break. Admitting that it sucks lowers the bar. This day doesn’t have to be great. If there are little islands of joy, great. If you get a tiny bit of work done, also great. Lower the standards for what counts as “good enough,” a good practice for sanity.”

Two: “THIS SUCKS FOR EVERYONE.” This is a reality check to “retain perspective on what really matters.”

Three: “Almost no one is having a good time. You may be alone but you are not alone being alone.”

Four: “This sucks…what now?” He says to ask yourself, “Can I give to others? How can I help? How can I be like the everyday heroes that still show up?”

“Once you give up trying to make this not suck, you can focus on what you can do to help.”
