Pulse Oximetry, what is it, why is it important

Spread the love

What is a pulse oximeter?

It is a small electronic device that measures the saturation of oxygen in the blood.

Normal is 95% to 100-%. Under 92% is cause for concern and may require supplementary oxygen.

You put your finger into the device (you won’t feel a thing!) and a few seconds later you have your oxygen level as well as your pulse.

Why is it important?

Covid-19 can bring on Covid pneumonia which, in the early stages, would show a drop in blood oxygen levels WITHOUT any difficulty breathing.

A doctor in Bellevue Hospital found that by the time patients went to the hospital, the virus had already damaged their lungs. In his opinion, the pulse oximeter could have caught the warning sign of low blood oxygen earlier on.

But wait, there’s more!

Fact. The body requires oxygen to function and heal, especially to regenerate healthy tissue.

Chiropractic adjustments can increase circulation and therefore the amount of oxygen to the tissues.

A lack of proper oxygen can cause headaches, dizziness, and coldness, numbness, and tingling in the hands or feet.

A pulse oximeter can let you know if there are such circulatory issues.
