Let’s Talk About Posture!
I know, I hear you, “yeah, yeah, sit up and stand up straight.”
Poor posture leads to slow, long term damage to your body,
WITHOUT PAIN, until that “it just happened” moment.
The same happens with tooth decay, arthritis, diabetes, PINCHED NERVES.
We all know what to do!
- Head up, as if there is a string attached and pulling your head to the ceiling
- Shoulders back by putting your hands behind you and pulling down
- Lower back slightly arched forward
And What NOT to Do!
Here are some of MY mistakes that have caused me left sided upper back and left shoulder pain:
- Driving with my left hand on top of the steering wheel
- Hunching over the laptop (I have raised it since!)
- Reading in an awkward position, not sitting up straight
The problem? We need to be self-aware and be reminded during our day.
Some people use post it notes, others use reminder apps, others have people who nag them!
My Invitation to You
I welcome creative ideas on how to remind ourselves during the day to check our posture. Let’s share!
Feel free to respond either to all or just me.
