When I teach the Respiratory System, I tell students that we breathe in oxygen and breathe out carbon dioxide AND WATER! With every exhalation you lose water. (Now if you want to know what happens when you breathe too quickly or too shallowly, and how it creates problems, you will just have to come to class!).
Medical professionals are now recommending adding electrolytes to water, like sodium, potassium, magnesium by drinking fluids like coconut water, Pedialyte, fruit infused water (throw some lemons, limes, watermelon, etc into water).
